How to Play

Each player needs a piece of A4 which they mark into four quarters. Each quarter of the page will be for a different times table of the player’s choice.

Each player is dealt seven cards. The rest of the cards are left in a pile face down.

The aim of the game is to lay the highest number of cards.

Players take it in turns to play, and each player has six turns. Each turn, a player lays cards in one of the four quarters on their paper.

Example

The player could lay 5, 15 and 35 on the page, as these are all multiples of 5. They can then replace the three cards they have played with three cards from the pile.

Now the player can do any of the following:

  • Lay 30 as a multiple of 5 (to add to the three cards already laid)
  • Lay 30 and 80 as multiples of 10
  • Lay 30 and 27 as multiples of 3
  • Lay 28 and 32 as multiples of 4
  • Lay 80, 32 and 96 as multiples of 8
  • Lay 96 and 144 as multiples of 12

Since the winner will be the person who has laid the most cards, the best next move would be to lay the three multiples of 8.

Once a player has laid cards in each quarter, they can use their remaining turns to add cards to any quarter. They can only add cards to one quarter in any turn.

After all players have had six turns, players count the number of cards laid and the winner is the player with the most cards laid.

Have fun!
